Asbestos expertise in accordance with TRGS 519 – safety and competence in handling a hazardous building material

Asbestos has been considered one of the most dangerous building materials for decades. Although its use has been banned in Germany since 1993, asbestos can still be found in many existing buildings – in roofs, floor coverings, facades, fire protection panels or old installations. Anyone who comes into contact with such materials must therefore comply with special protective measures. This requires appropriate expertise in accordance with TRGS 519.

What is TRGS 519?

The Technical Rule for Hazardous Substances 519 (TRGS 519) specifies the requirements for handling asbestos and materials containing asbestos. It applies to all activities in which asbestos can be released – from demolition, renovation and maintenance work (ASI work) to sampling or disposal work.

Only those who have a valid certificate of competence in accordance with Annex 3 or 4 of TRGS 519 may carry out or supervise these activities!

Facility manager Peter Schmidt has acquired the relevant expertise and is therefore also available as a consultant for corresponding refurbishments.
