The challenge
Armacell is a market leader in the production of insulation materials for plant insulation, high-performance foams for acoustic and lightweight applications, recycled PET products, next-generation aerogel mat technology and passive fire protection systems.
A project manager with both experience in industrial conversion / refurbishment and expertise in facility management during construction was required for the fire protection refurbishment of a 26,000 m² industrial hall for the production of insulating materials
The solution
During the approx. 1.5-year construction period, the Facility Manager was responsible for the sprinklers, smoke extraction, structural fire protection, roofing & roofing, doors & gates and numerous other trades and their interfaces. Thanks to the integration into the multidisciplinary project team consisting of site management, architect, fire protection experts, maintenance, health and safety coordinator and specialist contractors, the trades were managed promptly, put into operation and handed over to the client at the end of the project. The scope of tasks also included the coordination of expert inspections for the safety technology subject to mandatory testing, the coordination of a partial dismantling in one section of the halls and the procurement of interim social containers for the employees, who were able to start production in one section of the halls after the first construction phase.
