The challenge
Due to personnel changes, there was an urgent need in 2023 to provide professional facility management support for the more than 30 large cinemas in Germany at CinemaxX.
The solution
On the basis of a long-term interim facility management mandate, facility manager Peter Schmidt was commissioned to comprehensively tackle the numerous tasks involved in the technical management of the cinemas. For example, expert inspections had to be initiated in accordance with the building regulations of the respective state, major repairs had to be arranged, renovations and replacements of cinema seats, coordination with specialist companies, service providers and fire protection experts had to be carried out, the conversion of concessions and soft drink installations had to be planned and the day-to-day business of technical management had to be organized. A very special challenge was the reopening of the cinema complex in Wuppertal after massive flood damage with numerous renovations, coordination with the landlord, experts and authorities as well as supporting the ramp-up phase for the resumption of operations.

As special buildings and places of assembly, all buildings are subject to special requirements in terms of safety, fire protection, evacuation and recurring inspections by state-approved test engineers. Accordingly, all building complexes are equipped with comprehensive safety technology such as fire alarm systems, safety lighting, smoke extraction systems, voice alarms and, in some cases, sprinkler systems and emergency diesel generators. Furthermore, all properties have comprehensive building services equipment such as sanitary, electrical, air conditioning, cooling, heating and ventilation systems.
